Тема уроку: «Лондон – столиця Великобританії»

Мета уроку:

Практична:

• сприяти повторенню та активізації в усному мовленні ЛО та граматичних структур;
• практикувати учнів у читанні тексту з метою отримання загального уявлення та максимально повного й точного розуміння всієї інформації, що міститься в тексті;
• вчити учнів добувати та використовувати отриману інформацію для реалізації комунікативних задач.

Розвиваюча:

• розвивати навички читання, мовлення, аудіювання;
• розвивати культуру спілкування;
• розвивати вміння висловлювати свою думку англійською мовою  дотримуючись граматичних правил;
• розвивати інтерес учнів до вивчення іноземної мови та культури країни, мова якої вивчається

Виховна:

• виховувати повагу до культури та історії країни, мова якої вивчається;
• виховувати культури поведінки і спілкування;
• виховувати  толерантне ставлення до співрозмовника.

Ход уроку

На дошці епіграф:  “When a man is tired of London, he is tired of life, for there is in London all that life can afford”.  (Samuel Johnson)

1. Introduction.  (Вступне слово вчителя)

Many people think that modern life is impossible without travelling. Travelling has completely changed our life, our knowledge about other people, their lifestyles and their culture. And I want to start our today`s lesson with a question to you.

2. Warming-up.  (Введення в іншомовну атмосферу)

Використовується метод мікрофону.

Teacher:  Why do people like travelling?

Учні по черзі відповідають на запитання.

3. Повідомлення теми та мети уроку.

Тему уроку учні визначають самостійно . Для цього їм пропонується розв’язати кросворді знайти ключове слово, яке й визначає тему урока.

Teacher: Look at the blackboard. You can see a crossword there. Translate the words and do the crossword puzzle. If you do it correctly you will find out the key-word which explains what is the theme of our lesson today.

So,  the theme of our lesson is “London”. And today we are going to travel around London. You will be able to visit the well-known places of interest in London, to discover some new things about them and even see them.

Read and pronounce correctly.

Greenwich meridian, Thames, Royal residence, Buckingham Palace, Westminster Abbey, differ from, Piccadilly Circus.

2. While-reading activity.  Етап читання тексту та виконання вправ під час читання.

1. Skimming.  Переглядове читання тексту з метою отримання загального уявлення про його зміст.

Write 5 questions and then try to find out the answers while looking through the text.

    б) Scanning. Читання тексту з метою максимально повного та точного розуміння всієї інформації, що міститься в ньому та критичного її осмислення.

Teacher: Read the text again, then do the following activity.

Перегляд презентації «Лондон – місто контрастів» з визначними місцями Лондона. Учні переглядають презентацію, звертаючи увагу на підписи під малюнками.  Після перегляду презентації учням пропонується виконати завдання для перевірки контролю розуміння.

А) Рефлексія.. Учням пропонується сказати, яка інформація стосовно Лондону вразила їх найбільше і чому. При цьому учням опорні шаблони висловлювань.

Б) Самоконтроль вивченого матеріалу.  Учні виконують тест «Лондон». (додаток 2)

Домашнє завдання (диференційоване)

Середній рівень: скласти рекламний проспект про одне з визначних місць Лондона.

Достатній рівень: розповісти про визначні місця Лондона.

Високий рівень: скласти аркуш-путівник по Лондону (розказати в ньому про історію міста та його пам’ятки) і зробити повідомлення по ньому.

London

From the geography lessons you know that East meets West in the Greenwich meridian. It is in London.

London, one of the world`s biggest cities, situated on the river Thames, is the capital of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, the residence of British sovereign. London is a great industrial and cultural centre with the population of more than eight million people.

Buckingham Palace, London residence of the British sovereign, takes its name from the house built early in the 18th century for the dukes of Buckingham.

In 1761 George III bought the Palace for his wife. Since then it is known as “Queen`s house”.

London consists of four main districts which differ from each other. These are the City, Westminster,  the West End and the East End.

The City is small in area, but it is the business centre of London. Many banks and offices are situated there. The heart of the City is the Stock Exchange.

Westminster is the most important part of the capital. It is the administrative centre. The Houses of Parliament are there. It is a beautiful building with two towers and a very big clock called Big Ben. Opposite the Houses of Parliament is Westminster Abbey. It is a very beautiful church built over 900 years ago. The tombs of many great statesmen, scientists and writers are in the Abbey.

To the west of Westminster is the West End. Here we find most of the big shops, hotels, museums, art galleries, theatres and concert halls. Piccadilly Circus is the heart of London`s West End. In the West End there are wide streets with beautiful houses and many parks, gardens and squares.

To the east of Westminster is the East End, an industrial district of the capital. There are no parks or gardens in the East End and you can`t see many fine houses there. Most of the plants and factories are situated there.

Speaking about London you must keep in mind that it is the city of contrasts.
